The Art Studio

We plan to build an Art Studio so that Alison can make a head start on providing art tuition to the community, and in the future to our guests. This will be the new base for all Alison's art and craft activities.

Positioned in the garden close to our beautiful stone and oak pergola, it allows a lovely courtyard set between them, giving lots of options for inside/outside art practice.

Constructed from natural materials, the internal walls are rammed earth, created from the subsoil dug up for the foundations. The insulation is light straw clay and the outside is finished in a lime plaster. Atop the earthen walls is a timber framed roof with dome and pyramid lantern. Part of the roof is sedum and part is reserved for solar PV panels.
